Third
graders will be starting the year learning
multiplication and division facts up to 10.
Reading: Ways
to Improve Reading
1. Read to your child- signs, maps,
instructions, labels, as well as books.
2. Explain words your child does not
understand.
3. Talk about your day and what you are
doing.
4. Write notes to your child and have your
child write notes to you.
5. Play games: board games, word
games, and guessing games. Some good games
are Scramble, Clue, Upwords,
Guess
Who, Scattegories, and puzzles.
6. Have your child read to you from a book
he/she can read.
7. Go to the library.
8. Give the child experiences:
museums, the zoo, a park, the Capitol, Fort
Lincoln, fishing, art, or even a hike.
